Our Approach to Leadership
With our SPEAK Leadership Development Program, we introduce people—young and old—to five key leadership disciplines and provide a stimulating and experiential learning platform for them to develop their leadership voice as they make unique contributions to our local and global communities.
Service
Today’s generation has a natural tendency to be self-centered—focused on “what can be done for me.” While some may view this in a negative light, we know that, at the heart of it, most people actually just want to get better at what they’re doing. We transform people’s self-centeredness into selflessness by inspiring service-oriented hearts through:
- Transformative empathy
- Selflessness practices
- Awareness of the benefits of community service
- An introduction to local and global community service opportunities
Philanthropy
Social Intelligence is the ability to successfully build relationships and navigate social environments. Our society puts a huge emphasis on book smarts and IQ, but our relationships affect a much bigger part of our lives. With philanthropy, we empower people to put their heart of service into action through a focus on:
- Social responsibility
- Connectedness
- Empathy and self-efficacy
- The Stop. Challenge. Choose. Accountability model
Excellence
Emotional intelligence begins with what is called self- and social awareness, the ability to recognize emotions (and their impact) in both yourself and others. So we teach people how to realize their own personal and group excellence through the exploration of intentionality and how to practice exceptional leadership. We do this by focusing on:
- Authentic leadership
- Emotional intelligence
- Communication and versatility
- Personal brand management and social media
Achievement
A key part of being a leader is defining strategic pathways to success, and this all has to do with how you think. Our mindset training teaches people critical thinking, intelligent query, strategic planning, analytics, and quality- and value-based problem solving. We do this by focusing on:
- Personal and community capabilities and competencies
- Defining goals and objectives
- Six Sigma Lean DMAIC
- Strategic planning process and components
Knowledge
Some people like to debate about what’s more important in determining life success—book smarts (cognitive intelligence) or street smarts (emotional intelligence)? We believe both are important. So to stress the importance of cognitive intelligence, we introduce aspiring leaders to applied knowledge frameworks and show them how to prepare professional-grade presentations that highlight their journey, aspirations and action-oriented achievement plans. We do this by focusing on:
- Knowledge retention, management and sharing
- Presentation development skills
- Presence
- Dynamic delivery and facilitation
